Key Responsibilities- Equipment Maintenance
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems using blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
- Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to identify malfunctions.
- Perform basic welding activities, including MIG, TIG, ARC, and brazing.
- Remove defective parts by dismantling devices and using hand and power tools.
- Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts and using measuring instruments.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools and precision instruments.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of location equipment.
- Preventive Maintenance
- Perform and assign all preventive maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems and production machines.
- Perform boiler chemical testing, record results, and make necessary chemistry adjustments.
- Inspect motors and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions.
- Work Management
- Manage and assign all plant and equipment maintenance.
- Assume responsibility for all shifts in the maintenance department.
- Coordinate and schedule all equipment maintenance, including repairs that cannot be completed during normal hours.
- Oversee and maintain all regulatory and environmental compliance.
- Anticipate problems and use corrective measures to reduce or eliminate downtime.
- Communicate with management if any issues may result in downtime for the operation.
- Monitor downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance plans.
- Safety
- Assume responsibility for all aspects of safety within the maintenance department.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Administration
- Develop, manage, and maintain a budget for building, equipment, capital expenditures, and parts and labor.
- Prepare maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Manage maintenance records, including equipment failure, problems, parts used, and steps taken to make repairs.
- Generate and update a repair parts and equipment contact vendor list.
- Prepare a work order list, prioritize the list, and assign work to maintenance technicians.
- Develop a parts replacement file containing all systems components presently in use with all necessary data.
- Negotiation
- Identify and evaluate outside service companies that may be more cost-effective to work on certain projects.
- Secure bids from outside service companies for projects requiring outside labor.
- Negotiate with inside and outside sources, including vendors.
- Supervision
- Supervise a minimum of two maintenance technicians.
- Teach, train, and develop maintenance technicians.
- Identify and coordinate training for technicians on preventive and repair maintenance.
- Maintain staffing levels and participate in hiring processes.
- Direct and assist other maintenance personnel with emergency repairs.
- Complete and deliver maintenance technician reviews.
- Inventory Control
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies to accomplish job results.
- Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies by monitoring and replenishing inventory.
- Verify receipt of all orders.
- General Duties
- Oversee regular inspection of general facility and property.
- Involved in all maintenance issues.
- Respond to emergency alarms.
- Provide maintenance information to appropriate technicians.
- Personal Development
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and establishing personal networks.
- Facilitate regular debriefs with the plant manager.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
