Key Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements.
  • Select and source materials, tools, and equipment needed for carpentry work.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials to build or repair structures, fixtures, furniture, and other items.
  • Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, doors, cabinets, countertops, stairs, molding, trim, and hardware.
  • Build and install framing for structures, including walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs.
  • Ensure structures are level, plumb, and properly aligned.
  • Repair or replace damaged or defective parts or components of structures.
  • Perform finishing work, such as sanding, staining, varnishing, or painting surfaces.
  • Operate hand and power tools, including saws, drills, planers, routers, sanders, and pneumatic tools.
  • Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Collaborate with other construction workers, contractors, and project managers to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to apprentice carpenters and laborers when necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and tools.
  • Handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
  • Load and unload equipment and materials, follow complex instructions, and ensure compliance with building codes.
Your Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification from technical schools, especially in carpentry, is preferred.
  • Proven experience in carpentry, with a portfolio of previous work.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to different job sites as needed.
  • Strong physical stamina and dexterity.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and familiarity with construction equipment and hand tools.
