Special Education Coordinator

Uncommon Schools NYC is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Coordinator to join our team. As a Special Education Coordinator, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of students with disabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that align with students' needs and goals.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to provide accommodations and modifications for students with 504 plans and IEPs.
- Conduct classroom observations and testing to inform instruction and support student growth.
- Partner with families to address their needs throughout the IEP process and support their student's academic and social-emotional growth.
- Manage student records and prepare reports for regulatory agencies while ensuring compliance with all City, State, and Federal special education laws and regulations.

- Required Experience: A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities (1-2 years experience preferred). Academic expertise in Special Education, the Humanities, Social Sciences, STEM, or related fields of study. Special Education teaching certification is required.
