Crisis Support Specialist

- Overnight shifts (any time between 10 PM - 6 AM, Monday to Friday) and weekends (various shifts available) only.
- Minimum commitment of 10 hours per week.
- Maximum commitment of 25 hours per week.
- Hiring is limited to specific states.
The Crisis Support Specialist plays a vital role in the Crisis Line program by responding to calls for a designated number of hours each week during the least covered periods, as assigned by the Crisis Services Manager. The main goal is to improve the Crisis Line's ability to respond effectively.
Key Responsibilities:The following duties are indicative of the various tasks that may be performed. The absence of specific duties does not exclude them from the role if the work is similar, related, or logically assigned.
- Respond to crisis calls from individuals seeking emotional assistance, including those at risk of self-harm.
- Meet performance standards in managing call volume efficiently.
- Accurately document all completed calls.
- Engage in staff meetings and supervision as the schedule allows.
- Participate in ongoing education and training sessions as required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Preferred: a minimum of two years of professional experience in a call center; previous volunteer experience is a plus.
- Experience in a crisis helpline is advantageous.
- Ability to demonstrate empathy and engage in active, non-judgmental listening.
- Capable of handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Exhibit sound judgment and strong communication abilities.
- Ability to resolve conflicts appropriately while maintaining confidentiality; open to diverse beliefs and opinions.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to foster teamwork across the organization.
- Willingness to learn and accept guidance.
- Successful completion of required training and learning shifts post-hire.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Recommended internet speed: at least 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.
- Hourly wage ranges from $19 to $21, with training compensated at $18 per hour.
- Overnight shifts (any time between 10 PM - 6 AM, Monday to Friday) and weekends (various shifts available) only.
