Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Transportation Scheduler to join our team at the Polk Alternative Education Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling transportation for our students, ensuring efficient and safe routes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and schedule transportation for students, including morning and afternoon routes
  • Build and maintain routes for efficient and balanced utilization of staff and equipment
  • Provide necessary information for drivers to operate and maintain routes
  • Communicate with Polk and Transportation staff to resolve transportation issues
  • Work in bus routing system, equipment management system, tracking system, word processing, email, spreadsheets, and other programs as necessary
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Thorough knowledge of district, state, and federal procedures, laws, and regulations
  • Effective, efficient, and proactive oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions while maintaining professionalism, detail, and accuracy
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work primarily on site at the Polk Alternative Education office and bus loading zones. The position requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, enter and exit vehicles regularly, and lift and carry students or objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
