Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
Support the Controller/CFO in steering accounting operations.

Supervise and manage the daily functions of the accounting team.

Implement and uphold effective accounting practices, policies, and standards.

Delegate tasks and guide staff to ensure compliance and precision.

Maintain organized fiscal records and document transaction histories.

Lead initiatives for process improvements and provide interdepartmental training on various accounting topics.


Oversee the month-end and year-end closing activities, while identifying enhancements in the financial reporting timeline.

Conduct technical analyses on transactions and proposed transactions.

Maintain the integrity of the chart of accounts.


Evaluate and audit internal control systems, collaborating with the Controller/CFO to adopt appropriate policies that ensure accuracy in financial reporting.

Enforce policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency of accounting operations.

Coordinate and supervise periodic internal audits.

Assist in the formulation of financial budgets and evaluate the budgetary process.

Create operational documentation and troubleshooting protocols.

Responsible for the preparation of quarterly taxes and ensuring the accuracy of quarterly reports for the accounting division.

Support the management of insurance coverage to safeguard against property losses and potential liabilities.

Monitor debt levels and adherence to borrowing base debt covenants.

Assist in preparing for external audits.

Perform additional duties as required.

Supervisory Duties:
Oversee the accounting department's operations.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree or two to four years of relevant experience.

  • CPA/CMA with a background in private/public accounting. A minimum of two years in a managerial role or as an assistant controller.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Exceptional efficiency and accuracy.

Strong attention to detail with the capability to analyze extensive data sets.

Ability to lead and supervise effectively.

Proficient in MS Office, accounting software, and database management.

Regularly analyze costs and benefits for all financial transactions.


Inspire, develop, and guide team members, identifying suitable candidates for roles; implement an annual evaluation process; capable of collaborating with individuals from diverse backgrounds.


Understanding of business and management principles related to strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, production methods, and coordination of personnel and resources.


Familiarity with economic and accounting principles, financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data; comprehension of compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and tax obligations.

Ability to apply appropriate mathematical methods or formulas to resolve issues.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
