Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician Senior to join our team at the University of Michigan's Children and Women's Hospital. As a Pharmacy Technician Senior, you will play a critical role in supporting the pharmacy team in providing exceptional patient care and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and package non-sterile compounded pharmaceuticals
  • Prepare sterile products, injections, and IV chemotherapy
  • Fill automated dispensing cabinets on nursing units
  • Correctly distribute and account for controlled substances usage
  • Deliver medications to nursing units, including surgical rooms
  • Stock medications shelves, manage inventory dating, return excess stock to inventory, and properly dispose of expired medications
  • Prepare and deliver investigational drugs per research protocols
  • Respond and triage telephone and electronic message inquiries
  • Assist the Pharmacist with auditing controlled substance utilization
  • Build various medication kits, providing support to multiple professions
  • Assist with training of staff
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor to assist with preparation and delivery of patient medications
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before hire date, verifiable through the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs
  • One or more years of relevant pharmacy practice or equivalent experience
  • Proficient communication, computer, and basic mathematical skills
  • Ability to prioritize with accuracy and dependability

Work Schedule

Full and part-time positions are available on days, afternoons, or midnights. Technicians are expected to work every second weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and provide holiday coverage. Technicians' main work area will be in Children and Women's Hospital Main or Operating Room Pharmacy. Weekend-only schedules may be considered.
