Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor who is committed to making a significant impact in the lives of individuals facing challenges related to drug and alcohol use. Work Schedule

This position requires availability on weekends, specifically Saturday and Sunday, for three hours each day.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Substance Abuse Counselor include:

  • Providing essential information related to substance abuse for educational curricula.
  • Facilitating and co-facilitating both group and individual counseling sessions.
  • Recommending new instructional materials and programs for the substance abuse initiative.
  • Staying informed about the latest developments in the field of substance abuse.
  • Maintaining professional relationships with other substance abuse specialists and organizations.
  • Conducting assessments and psychosocial histories for incoming clients as necessary.
  • Participating in relevant training sessions related to substance abuse.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field, along with one year of clinical experience in a health or human service agency; or
  • An Associate Degree in a similar field with two years of clinical experience.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of addiction and mental health counseling.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in using computers and relevant software.
