Race Transport Operator

The role of a Race Transport Operator at Penske Racing South is a full-time, year-round position dedicated to the transportation of vehicles and equipment for our prestigious IndyCar and IMSA series. This position demands a high level of professionalism while on the road and in the workshop. As a Race Transport Operator, your primary responsibility will be to safely convey race cars and related tools and materials to various event locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently load and unload racing equipment and supplies.
- Manage inventory for the transport vehicle and associated gear.
- Ensure the transport vehicle is clean and well-presented for team members and guests.
- Adhere to all relevant DOT, DMV, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Meet all schedules and deadlines in a safe and timely manner.
- Maintain a professional demeanor while transporting and at event venues.
- Conduct regular checks to ensure the transport vehicle is in safe operating condition.
- Complete all necessary logs and records promptly; may involve expense reporting in accordance with company policies.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) is required.
- Must provide or be able to obtain a current Medical Examiner's Safety Certificate.
- Clean driving record and satisfactory background check are essential.
- Exhibit a professional and presentable work ethic.
- Previous experience in motorsports is preferred; however, other driving backgrounds, such as car hauler driving, will be considered.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs independently.
- Capable of maneuvering in tight spaces within the transport vehicle and other areas.
- Must be able to stand for 10 or more consecutive hours.
- Willingness to work the complete race and test schedule, including weekends.
- Availability to work in the shop when not driving; no fly-in work options are available.
