Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver exceptional guest service to both internal and external patrons, embodying the #AddLife culture in all interactions.
  2. Encourage a supportive and motivating atmosphere for Team Members.
  3. Safeguard the confidentiality of all sensitive information in line with established procedures and company policies.
  4. Comply with the stringent rules and regulations set forth by the Virginia Racing Commission (VRC) and Colonial Downs Group, LLC regarding guest service and financial transactions.
  5. Manage a mutuel window, providing courteous service while adhering to ethical standards. Personal wagering is strictly prohibited.
  6. Utilize a teller terminal (ticket issuing machine) alongside a cash drawer.
  7. Process wagers with precision, ensuring the mutuel ticket accurately reflects the wager, pool, race, runner, and racetrack.
  8. Validate and cash winning tickets by scanning them through the teller's terminal.
  9. Assume full accountability for cash handling in the issuance and redemption of mutuel tickets, including draws and returns from the cash room, and for any discrepancies that may arise.
  10. Monitor patrons to prevent underage gambling.
  11. Direct guest complaints to the immediate supervisor.
  12. Address issues within the scope of authority and recommend actions for matters beyond that scope to the supervisor.
  13. Keep the position supervisor updated on relevant activities.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Regulatory and Compliance Duties

In addition to the aforementioned responsibilities, each Team Member is expected to comply with laws and regulations:

  • Participate in mandatory training sessions provided by the Company.
  • Obtain and maintain necessary licenses.
  • Execute duties in accordance with local laws and regulations.
  • Ensure minors are prohibited from gambling or lingering in gambling areas, consuming alcoholic beverages, or purchasing tobacco.
  • Understand the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relevant to the Team Member's department.
  • Be aware of the Property's initiatives addressing problem gaming.
  • Report any observed misconduct.
Qualifications

Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills are essential; prior experience in cash handling is required. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of situational awareness is crucial. Availability to work during all live race days is necessary.

Licenses and Certifications

Virginia Racing Commission License is required.
