The Department of Neurology at the University of Virginia is seeking an exceptional faculty-level scientist with expertise in neurodegeneration or caregiver science to join our vibrant community of neuroscientists. As part of a major University-wide investment in this area, we are committed to enhancing ongoing research in the neurodegeneration/caregiver science space and fostering a collaborative environment that promotes innovation and discovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct innovative research in neurodegeneration or caregiver science, with a focus on early biomarkers of dementia, risk factors, and interventions to mitigate the onset of dementia or mitigate the negative impacts and cognitive and other health risks of caregiving.
  • Develop and maintain a strong ongoing research program that can attract and sustain extramural funding.
  • Facilitate connections between fundamental and applied scientists by directly linking findings from the bench to the bedside.
  • Be deeply committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Clinicians will be expected to be board-eligible or board-certified and provide clinical care to adults within their specialty of neurology, neuropsychology, sleep or behavioral psychology.
