Marine Equipment Yard Operations and Estimating Professional

Manson Construction Co. is seeking a highly motivated summer intern to join our team in the San Francisco Bay-area field, marine equipment yard operations, and office estimating / engineering assignments.

Salary and Benefits:
The selected candidate will receive a competitive salary of $21.00 - $24.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. In addition, we offer a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees and their families, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
About the Role:
As a summer intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of our business, including:
- Reporting daily activities of a construction or yard operations crew
- Cost and implementation comparison of as-built construction activities to as-bid estimates
- Quantity tracking and formwork and falsework details
- Coordination with project foremen and superintendents to write work procedures
- Development of project work element plans and hazard analysis
- Computer Aided Drafting for analysis of equipment capabilities and work methods
In addition to these responsibilities, you will also assist with estimating assignments, including quantity takeoffs, reading job specific specifications and standard specifications, subcontractor and supplier coordination and quote comparisons, estimate cost analysis and detail entry, and project scheduling.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- A valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and document collaboration
- BASIC KNOWLEDGE OR EXPERIENCE WITH AutoCAD AND SCHEDULING SOFTWARE
Work Environment:
You will work in a variety of environments, including the field, yard operations, and main office. You will be exposed to adverse weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. You must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
