Job Overview
As a key member of our team at Ross Environmental Services, Inc., the Tanker Transport Specialist is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of liquid waste and general freight. This role demands adherence to safety protocols and regulations while maintaining a customer-centric approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to safety regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA, EPA) during the transportation of materials.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and operational readiness.
- Maintain accurate logs of working hours in compliance with U.S. DOT regulations.
- Perform vehicle inspections as per state and federal guidelines.
- Foster positive relationships with both internal and external customers.
- Verify load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Interpret shipping documents to ascertain assignment details.
- Report any vehicle issues, accidents, or violations in line with company policy.
- Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the truck interior and equipment.
- Maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no at-fault accidents or major convictions in the past three years.
- Support the growth of our Field Service business line through safe and compliant practices.
- Execute projects in accordance with relevant Federal, State, and local regulations.
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures for Field Service.
- Collaborate with field service teams on various projects, including waste collection and tank cleaning.
- Physically handle equipment and materials as required for field service tasks.
- Work in diverse environments, both indoors and outdoors, while adhering to safety protocols.
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
- Complete required training, including OSHA and DOT certifications.
- Assist in the implementation of Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of recent experience with over-the-road tanker operations, specifically with liquid tankers.
- Possession of a valid Class B CDL with the ability to obtain a Hazmat endorsement.
- Experience operating light equipment (e.g., tow motors, pumps) is advantageous.
- Compliant history with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
- Ability to pass a DOT physical examination.
- Compliance with DOT substance abuse testing protocols.
- Willingness to work extended shifts and travel overnight as needed.
- Preferred experience in environmental remediation or hazardous waste management.
- Fluency in English with strong reading and writing skills for documentation purposes.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.
