Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse to join our team at Rady Childrens Hospital - San Diego. As a Pediatric Cardiac ICU Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill children with cardiac conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill children with cardiac conditions, including those requiring mechanical ventilation, vasoactive medications, and other life-sustaining therapies.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient.
  • Monitor and manage patients' vital signs, lab results, and other clinical data to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Administer medications, perform procedures, and provide other interventions as needed to manage patients' conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • Current CA RN license.
  • 2+ years of experience in CVPICU/CTICU with a focus on pediatric cardiac care.
  • PEDS Cardiac experience is a must.
  • Heart transplant experience is highly desirable.
  • Ability to float between units, including PICU, NICU, medical, surgical, hem/onc, and medical behavioral units.
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications.
  • Experience with ventilators, multiple monitors, and EKG interpretation.
Work Schedule

We offer a 3x12 variable or straight night shifts schedule, with 36x48 available shifts per month. Weekend requirements include 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule, with a mix of Friday/Saturday nights and Saturday/Sunday shifts. 13-week contracts are available, with a requested time off of 6 days total (must still get 3 shifts in week). Must be available to work holidays.

Additional Information

A valid photo ID is required for all travelers. Chemo Certified APHON is required for Hemotology/Oncology. TNCC is preferred but not required for ER and Peds ER. OR Tech/CST - IAHCSMM (HSPA) or CBSPD is preferred, not required. Orientation information will be sent out on the Thursday before a Monday start.
