Job Summary

The OSP Technology Engineer will be responsible for evaluating, testing, and recommending new equipment and materials for deployment in the field. This role will interact with operations, vendors, and field offices to evaluate, trial, and deploy new technologies and related products.

A strong background in RF principles, optical principles, and networks is essential for this role.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Innovate, research, and evaluate new materials and equipment for deployment in the field.
  2. Use test equipment to evaluate new products and vendors for RF and optical performance and innovative applications.
  3. Investigate and recommend new items, materials, and technologies to enhance the plant infrastructure, technology, and operations.
  4. Work with operations to evaluate new products and their performance in the field.
  5. Develop documentation for records, deployment procedures, application, and design standards for meeting Armstrong criteria.
  6. Interact with the training department to develop materials for training of new products, new applications, and standards.
  7. Develop and review SCTE, NEC, and NESC standards as they apply to the plant infrastructure.
  8. Develop and document company procedures for plant-related activities.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical, Optical, or RF preferred.

Strong understanding of RF and Optical networks.

5 years of related experience required.

Self-learner with the ability to process and retain information without direction or a fixed curriculum.

Organized and able to meet deadlines that often change unpredictably.

Excellent writing skills and the ability to communicate and present complex issues to a variety of audiences.

Good people skills and ability to work as part of a close-knit local team while maintaining remote managerial relationships.

Willingness to travel as needed to local Armstrong operations offices and vendor locations.

Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
