As a Poultry Care Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of our birds, as well as maintaining a safe and efficient egg production process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain poultry houses, ensuring adequate temperature, lighting, feed, water, and clean environment for the birds.
  • Responsible for making sure the chickens have adequate water, feed, and proper temperatures maintained.
  • Disinfect poultry houses and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Operate medication pumps and maintain and replace water regulators, egg rollers, sprockets, feed chains, and header shear pins as needed.
  • Monitor mortality and egg loss, and report any issues to the supervisor or lead.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including replacing light bulbs and keeping catwalks clean.
  • Assist with maintenance tasks as needed and work closely with the supervisor and maintenance team.
  • Responsible for weighing birds and collecting case weights weekly.
  • Keep all feed chains and egg belts working at all times, and ensure egg savers and egg collectors are clean and adjusted.
  • Report any issues or concerns to the supervisor or lead, and adhere to safe work practices and maintain sanitary conditions.

Requirements:

  • No prior experience or training required.
  • Ability to read and write simple sentences, and perform basic math skills.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. in each hand and carry it for at least 250 feet.
  • Ability to work individually or with a team with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to pass and follow Lock Out Tag Out Trained and Respiratory Trained.

Working Conditions:

The Poultry Care Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment with dusty and aromatic conditions. The ability to pass a pulmonary functions test and fit test is required.
