Poultry Care Person Job Description

At Michael Foods, Inc., we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Poultry Care Person to join our team in Wakefield, Nebraska. As a key member of our egg production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of our birds, as well as maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain poultry houses, ensuring optimal conditions for bird health and egg production.
  • Monitor and maintain water, feed, and temperature levels, as well as perform daily checks on equipment and facilities.
  • Assist with maintenance and repairs, including disinfecting houses and maintaining medication pumps.
  • Collect and record data on bird health, egg production, and other relevant metrics.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and maintenance teams to ensure seamless operations and address any issues that may arise.
Requirements:
  • No prior experience or training required.
  • Ability to read and write simple sentences, as well as perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to pass a pulmonary function test and fit test.
Working Conditions:

This role requires working in a dusty and aromatic environment, with the ability to work in various positions, including bending, kneeling, and crawling. The successful candidate must be able to work individually or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
