About the Role

Sinclair Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Media Systems Supervisor to join our Corporate Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the maintenance and support of our engineering systems, as well as supervising a team to ensure the smooth operation of our content centers.

Key Responsibilities
  • System Maintenance and Support: Implement, install, and maintain engineering systems, providing end-user support across all departments.
  • Equipment Supervision: Supervise preventive maintenance and/or troubleshooting of broadcast equipment, including cameras, audio and video equipment, graphics systems, encoders/decoders, and computing equipment.
  • Business Needs Assessment: Play a role in assessing business needs, vetting vendors, and collaborating across Corporate IT, Technology, Digital, and Security teams to define a cutting-edge, adaptable data-driven and scalable content center ecosystem.
  • Architecture and Infrastructure: Assist in organizing and communicating high-level architecture, infrastructure, and workflow concepts and develop them into working systems.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the subject matter expert and point of contact for all things related to equipment and technology, staying up-to-date on new industry standards.
  • Problem-Solving and Crisis Management: Solve/troubleshoot problems in a crisis situation, perform disaster recovery procedures, and maintain and leverage appropriate data collection and monitoring systems to ensure visibility and communication on the status of media operations.
  • Signal Flow and Systems Troubleshooting: Ability to create and comprehend signal flow documents as well as systems-level troubleshooting.
  • Equipment Planning and Budgeting: Oversee planning of future equipment installations, requirements, and budgetary recommendations.
  • Technology Requirements: Articulate clear technology requirements in both written and verbal forms.
Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in News Engineering workflows or equivalent technical experience.
  • Direct Engineering Experience: Direct engineering experience with cameras, editing, production switchers, and control room automation.
  • Education: Associates degree or higher in IT, electronics, or computer-related field.
  • Team-Oriented Attitude: A great team-oriented attitude and dedication to quality.
  • Operating System Familiarity: Strong familiarity with Microsoft, Mac, and Linux operating systems.
  • Hardware and Computer System Technologies: Knowledge and competency in core hardware and computer system technologies, including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance, and LAN/WAN networking.
  • Problem-Solving and Communication Skills: Demonstrated experience analyzing complex operational problems and providing solutions, proficiency in troubleshooting problems and responding quickly under pressure, and excellent communication skills.
  • Video Streaming and SCTE Signaling: Understanding of video streaming protocols and SCTE signaling.
  • FCC Regulations: Familiarity with FCC regulations.
  • Avid ACSR Certification: Avid ACSR certified a strong plus.
  • Flexibility and Physical Demands: Must be able to work a flexible schedule and ability to lift computers and equipment generally less than 50 pounds.
