Position Overview

The Respiratory Care Practitioner plays a vital role in upholding the mission, vision, and core values of Frederick Health (FH). This position requires adherence to the FH Compliance Program, ensuring all regulatory standards and the FH Standards of Behavior are met.

The practitioner will execute a range of Respiratory Care procedures for patients across all age groups, from infants to the elderly. The RCP I is expected to demonstrate clinical decision-making and skills with moderate oversight, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective respiratory care within the general patient care environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Management of airway and ventilators
  • Conducting blood gas draws and analyses
  • Administering medications
  • Providing oxygen therapy
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:
  • Understanding of the cardiopulmonary system and knowledge of both acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions.
  • Familiarity with various respiratory therapy techniques and treatments.
  • Innovative and adaptable mindset, with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with all team members for optimal patient care.
  • Ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating sensitivity to individual differences.
  • Proficient in computer usage, including general knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Meditech and CPN software is advantageous.
  • Willingness to learn new software and electronic healthcare record (EHR) systems to improve work efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Associate's Degree from an accredited Respiratory Care program or equivalent.
  • Certification: Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).
  • Licensure: Must hold a current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in Maryland.
  • Continuing education is required for license maintenance.
  • Certifications: Must possess a current American Heart Association Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • New graduates are welcome to apply.
Reporting Structure:

This position reports directly to the Manager of Respiratory Care.
