Job Title: Mechanic Helper

Trail Boss is seeking a skilled Mechanic Helper to join our team. As a Mechanic Helper, you will assist Vehicle Mechanics in performing a full range of maintenance, repair, and service activities on automobiles, Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV) Buses, and Vans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the performance of maintenance and repair activities, including washing, cleaning, and lubricating vehicles, loading, unloading, and storing automotive parts and supplies, and maintaining work areas.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks and adjustments on vehicles, including fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, and clutches.
  • Assist with troubleshooting malfunctions on vehicles and repair.
  • Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns and other maintenance as required.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA standards.
Requirements:
  • Completion of high school or GED.
  • Preferred Class B CDL with airbrakes endorsement.
  • Technical training or formal apprenticeship/trade school.
  • One year of experience assisting skilled tradespeople in the repair and maintenance of automobiles, heavy equipment, Buses, and Vans.
  • Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles and engines.
  • Knowledge of safety issues in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in repair of motorized vehicles and equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions.
  • Ability to read manuals and schematics.
  • Ability to rebuild engines and major driveline components.
  • Ability to communicate with other mechanics about repair work needed.
  • Ability to enter repair information in fleet maintenance management software.
