Job Summary:

We are seeking a Diesel Service Technician to join our team at Sternberg Automotive Group. As a Diesel Service Technician, you will be responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on light-duty and medium-duty diesel vehicles in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will be motivated and enthusiastic about learning, with a strong sense of dedication to the customer and service team. Prior CDJR experience is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical service to vehicles and equipment
  • Reading job orders, observing and listening to vehicles in operation to resolve malfunctions, and planning work procedures
  • Following checklists to ensure all critical parts are examined
  • Examining protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and adjusting as needed
  • Testing-drive vehicles to ensure they run smoothly
  • Tagging all warranty parts and returns to the warranty clerk
  • Attending training classes and keeping tabs on factory technical bulletins
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with customers to increase overall customer happiness
  • Properly completing the service and/or repairs assigned by the supervisor
  • Completing all work according to the applicable safety requirements and published procedures
  • Participating in and utilizing to the best of one's abilities, technical training as assigned by management
  • Maintaining a designated workspace in an organized and clean manner
  • Ensuring guest vehicles are returned as clean as they were prior to being serviced
  • Showing the utmost courtesy to all guests, visitors, and dealership personnel
  • Making every effort to achieve the production objectives set by management
  • Adhering to manufacturer's policies and procedures as they relate to labor operations, time, and repair order documentation when performing warranty repairs and torque specifications
  • Any other duties as outlined by the Service Supervisor and/or management

Qualifications include:

  • At least 1 year of Fleet or Dealership experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • ASE certification preferred
  • CDL certification preferred/willingness to achieve
  • Self-motivated and professional
  • Possess own tools
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Must be able to pass routine background check and drug screening
