Key ResponsibilitiesAs the Floral and Home Gift Sales Manager, you will oversee the sales and merchandising operations within this department. Your role is crucial in establishing excellence in the Floral and Home Gift section, focusing on production, pricing, promotions, and placement to meet sales, margin, and growth objectives. Collaboration with Store Operations is essential to uphold high standards in executing departmental programs and practices. You will also work alongside local and international suppliers to curate a unique and visually appealing product assortment.
Your specific responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the achievement of sales and financial targets for both corporate and store-level budgets.
- Developing merchandising strategies that align with profitability goals and sustained sales growth.
- Collaborating with the department to maintain consistent merchandising standards, appropriate product assortments, signage, training, and financial performance.
- Creating promotional strategies, merchandising guidelines, and training programs for the Floral and Home Gift department, along with documented standard operating procedures for store teams.
- Managing all aspects of Floral and Home Gift products, including vendor selection, product innovation, pricing strategies, merchandising techniques, and packaging.
- Planning effective advertising and promotional campaigns that resonate with corporate marketing themes.
- Communicating merchandising strategies to stores with adequate lead time for Store Managers and Department Managers to enhance the promotional plan.
- Assisting Operations and stores in achieving inventory turnover, margin percentages, and shrink percentages, while developing store-specific action items and tracking progress.
- Partnering with Operations and Store Management to develop staffing and workflow models that ensure department readiness and customer service excellence.
- Staying informed about competitors and industry trends.
- Facilitating staff meetings to educate and implement new programs and processes.
- Building, monitoring, and updating order guides and departmental documentation.
- Creating action plans to address and rectify any substandard performance within the department.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A robust background in sales and merchandising, with extensive knowledge of the floral and home gift industry.
- 5-6 years of experience in retail grocery or the floral/home gift sector.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in various office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, calendaring, email management, and internet navigation.
- The ability to create, compose, and edit written and electronic materials.
- Flexibility to work regular or irregular hours consistently and travel to various locations as needed.
- Strong financial acumen and the ability to recognize trends and areas for improvement.
- Skills in setting short and long-term goals and planning accordingly.
