The Physical Therapy Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering direct care to residents under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer physical therapy interventions to residents based on individualized treatment plans established by the Physical Therapist.
  • Support the Physical Therapist during assessments, evaluations, and advanced treatment techniques.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate residents' conditions, responses, and progress to the supervising therapist.
  • Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions and document residents' progress as directed.
  • Assist in the initial assessment of new residents.
  • Collaborate with the therapist in discussions with family members, physicians, and other healthcare professionals as necessary.
  • Contribute to the upkeep of the physical therapy department and its equipment.
  • Participate in training sessions and meetings as assigned by the Physical Therapist.
  • Engage in ongoing education to stay current in the field and fulfill professional responsibilities.
  • Comply with all regulatory and professional standards set forth by HealthPro Heritage.
  • Attend and contribute to rehabilitation team meetings regarding resident care and progress.
  • Follow facility policies and engage in quality improvement and safety initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
  • Understand various reimbursement processes and allocate therapy resources effectively to meet resident goals.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Embrace the company's commitment to compassionate care and maintain a professional demeanor to instill confidence in our rehabilitation program.
  • Work independently while recognizing when direct supervision is necessary; assist colleagues as needed.
  • Meet the expected productivity standards for your role within the facility.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of practice.
  • Preferred experience in a similar care setting serving the same demographic.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow the Physical Therapist's instructions and adhere to facility protocols.
Physical demands include:

Standing:
Ability to maintain an upright position for extended periods.

Pushing:

Ability to exert force to move objects, with a maximum push/pull force of 35 lbs.


Lifting:

Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs independently; may require assistance for heavier items.


Stooping:

Ability to bend forward and down for extended periods.


Reaching:
Ability to extend arms in various directions.

Balancing:
Ability to maintain stability on uneven or moving surfaces.
