Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Professional to join our team at The University of Chicago Medicine. As a Multi-Modality Imaging Technologist, you will be responsible for performing imaging procedures in multiple modalities, including CT and MRI. Your expertise will be essential in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the accuracy of imaging results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform imaging procedures in CT and MRI modalities, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Review requisitions to ensure correct exams have been ordered and allotted the proper time frame.
  • Coordinate exams that require direct Radiologist involvement.
  • Prepare contrast media and administer it to patients under the direction of a physician.
  • Review and evaluate completed exams for quality and proper format.
  • Provide patient education prior to, during, and subsequent to the procedure to reduce anxiety and enhance comfort.
  • Report and record malfunctioning equipment to the Imaging Manager and Clinical Engineering.
  • Utilize imaging systems, accessories, and patient positioning techniques to generate quality images.
  • Participate in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, working closely with patient concierge, medical assistants, nurses, and physicians to achieve positive outcomes and optimal patient flow.
  • Ensure the safety of patients and non-radiology staff in and around the imaging scanner/equipment.
  • Participate in continuing education activities to maintain accreditation.
  • Utilize radiology information systems in accordance with current guidelines and protocols.
  • Perform daily quality assurance scans to ensure the system is in good working order.
  • Check equipment for damage and report repairs as needed.
  • Document system errors and save raw image and raw data when necessary.
  • Assist with Radiology QI metrics and reporting.
  • Participate in daily readiness and MDI reporting as needed.
  • Participate in EOC rounds, SIMS labs, and new projects when asked.
  • Assist with new staff training and orientation and serve as a conduit for communication between the manager and front-line staff.
  • Assist with providing staff schedules as assigned by the manager.

Requirements:

  • Satisfactory completion of a formal primary pathway in Radiology, CT, or MRI accredited program and clinical training in an AMA or JCERT approved program.
  • Registration in all modalities and advanced certifications for the modalities as indicated.
  • Satisfies post-primary education that meets certification standards in secondary or advanced modality skill.
  • Licensure by the state of IN as required when using radiation-producing equipment.
  • Primary pathway registry/certification by ARRT or ARMRIT, and advanced post-primary certification in all disciplines assigned to work.
  • Advanced certification in the post-primary modality required within 12 months of hire date.
  • CPR training required and BLS training recommended.
