Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nursing Support Level I to provide direct personal care and related support to residents in a long-term care facility. The ideal candidate will have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, as well as deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct personal care and related support to residents, including bathing, dressing, and using the toilet.
  • Answer patient call signals, signal lights, bells, or intercom systems to determine patients' needs.
  • Turn or reposition bedridden patients and provide physical support to assist patients with daily living activities.
  • Review patients' dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences to ensure patient receives appropriate diet.
  • Measure and record food and liquid intake or urinary and fecal output, reporting changes to medical or nursing staff.
Requirements
  • Certification as a Certified Medication Aide (CMA), Home Health Aid (HHA), or Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) OR eligible to attain certification.
  • Ability to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
  • Must possess and maintain a current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification from the State of New Mexico or must receive Certified Nursing Assistant Certification within four (4) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions

This position requires working throughout the nursing service area, including drug rooms, nurses' stations, resident rooms, etc. The successful candidate will be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, and visitors. They will also be required to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends, and holidays.
