About the Role

The San Francisco SPCA is seeking a dedicated Nursing Care Manager to join our team. This role will provide leadership for the Hospital nursing team, ensuring the development and growth of nursing staff and high-quality service to patients and clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership - Vision and Standards for Quality of Care
  • Uphold and help establish vision for standards of care in partnership with doctors, Hospital Clinical Administrator and Nursing Supervisors.
  • Oversee the Nursing Supervisors and all aspects of the nursing staff, including on-the-floor supervision, coaching and assistance (when needed).
  • Implement protocols relating to nursing care procedures, and partner with Hospital Clinical Administrator in development of those protocols.
  • Maintain and improve nursing care work systems, documents, and processes.
  • Implement roadmap for ongoing nursing care improvement initiatives.
  • Work cooperatively with other SPCA Departments to meet business/program needs.
  • Participate in strategic planning, goal setting and implementation of the organization's vision map.
  • Implement long-term vision and plan for nursing care team that aligns with Hospital growth and strategic plan.
Requirements
  • RVT in good standing.
  • Bachelor's degree required, major in business administration or related area preferred but not required, Master's degree preferred but not required.
  • A minimum of 3 years leading a nursing team in a high-volume, high-responsibility medical environment.
  • Commitment to the mission, values, goals, and success of the San Francisco SPCA.
  • Demonstrated success in managing a diverse team of professionals; skilled in managing varied relationships and successful at facilitating collaboration and cooperation.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of staff management and the appropriate methods and means of dealing with human behavior situations in a variety of business circumstances.
  • Ability to delegate responsibility, achieve and measure results with team members.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing in a diverse range of audiences and settings; ability to mediate conflicts and give/receive feedback.
  • Experience with humane animal handling and restraint techniques of healthy, ill and feral animals.
  • Ability to understand and communicate pertinent medical information with colleagues and clients.
  • Highly proficient with MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and Databases.
  • Self-motivated and able to initiate and complete tasks.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Cantonese and/or Mandarin is highly preferred.
  • Comfortable working in the shelter/veterinary environment and willing to accommodate animals in the workplace.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $105,000-$115,000 per year, depending on experience. Regular full-time positions are eligible for a benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental & vision insurance, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, 401k retirement plan and contribution matching, student debt relief program, pre-tax commuter benefits, discounts on retail and pet supplies, and discounts on veterinary care at our SF SPCA Veterinary Hospital and Clinic.
