Job Summary:

The ASPCA is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as an Animal Caretaker. In this role, you will be responsible for providing care and transport for at-risk canines and felines, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to further the ASPCA's mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and sanitize animal housing in accordance with ASPCA protocols
  • Ensure animals are secured in a clean environment and provided with water and age, size, and species-appropriate food
  • Prepare the facility prior to transport and prepare cage charts
  • Maintain a professional appearance and cleanliness of the facility for the safety of both animals and humans
  • Promptly communicate animal medical needs to the ASPCA veterinarian team
  • Be punctual and reliable
  • Promptly communicate maintenance needs to the appropriate ASPCA staff contact
  • Handle animals with care and gentleness during loading and unloading
  • Be comfortable working with dogs of all sizes, cats, and kittens
  • Provide excellent customer service to shelter staff, veterinarian partners, volunteers, and community members
  • Ensure the safekeeping of all paperwork provided for animals being transported
  • Assist with inventory management and stocking supplies in the ASPCA Overland Park Waystation
  • Help load and unload supplies into the vehicle
  • Maintain communication with the supervisor regarding facility setup and cleaning
  • Represent the ASPCA in a responsible and compassionate manner at all times
  • Participate in additional trainings as needed

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Two years of animal care or veterinary assistant experience preferred

Additional Information:

  • This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule, which may include early morning, late evening, and/or weekend shifts
  • This position may require the use of a personal vehicle
  • This position is contracted through an employment agency, and the employee will be an employee of the agency, not the ASPCA
  • The target hiring range for this temporary role is $16.00 per hour, which may be modified in the future
