Staff Software Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our team at 1910 Genetics. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining a state-of-the-art cloud-based platform that empowers our scientists and researchers to make groundbreaking advancements in drug discovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain a cloud-based platform for drug discovery
- Develop, test, and maintain various design and analysis software for experimental work
- Gather scientist requirements and feedback and incorporate them into the development process
- Provide continuous technical guidance and support for engineers, bioinformaticians, and data scientists
- Document and regularly present data at internal meetings
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to understand domain-specific requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing within the engineering team
- Integrate machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms into the platform to enable predictive analytics, data mining, and pattern recognition
- Build and maintain efficient data pipelines to handle large-scale data acquisition, storage, and processing
- Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of the platform, adhering to best practices for cloud infrastructure
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field
- 5 years experience with full stack development, both front-end and backend
- Proficiency with Github, Python, Javascript, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, React
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes) for deploying and scaling applications
- Deep expertise in CI/CD systems
- 5 years of experience with cloud systems, especially Microsoft Azure
- 5 years of hands-on experience as an individual contributor writing code and building software products
- 5 years of experience building large-scale enterprise software products
- Experience developing, deploying, and scaling any Enterprise software solutions
- Solid background in data engineering, ETL processes, and data modeling for complex scientific datasets
- Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and a collaborative mindset for effective teamwork
- Strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

- Experience working for a small to mid-size startup organization
- Experience working for a biotechnology or healthcare company
- Previous involvement in machine learning and AI projects, with a deep understanding of deploying and managing ML models in production
