Job Overview

Lightmatter is revolutionizing the field of artificial intelligence computing with its cutting-edge silicon-photonics-based network fabric. We're seeking a talented software engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of high-performance systems for large-scale distributed computing.

As a Staff Software Engineer - ML Hardware Modeling, you will work closely with our software and hardware teams to design, develop, and optimize the features needed to accelerate machine learning algorithms. Your expertise in hardware modeling and system simulation will play a crucial role in the hardware-software codesign of future systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop performance models for design concepts and planned hardware at both subsystem and system levels
  • Collaborate with hardware and software teams to provide initial pathfinding analysis, develop early analytical models, and conduct detailed event-based simulations
  • Work with machine learning and compiler teams to construct and evaluate the performance of machine learning workloads

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or PhD with one year of experience in computer/software engineering, electrical engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of industry experience in hardware modeling, system simulation, computer architecture, or related fields
  • Proficient in C++ and Python programming languages
  • 2+ years of experience with modeling and large-scale distributed systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with machine inference and training learning workloads
  • Experience with modeling and analysis of machine learning accelerator architectures
  • Proficient in a Linux-based environment

We offer competitive compensation. The base salary range for this role, inclusive of all US locations, is $155,000-$228,000. Your base salary will be determined based on location, experience, educational background, and market data.
