Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the integration of avionics communication systems and data fusion technologies into Navy helicopter platforms.
  • Ensure seamless interoperability between various avionics subsystems.
  • Develop and implement integration plans, procedures, and schedules.
  • Support the specification, design, and development of advanced avionics communication systems and data fusion algorithms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct trade studies and analysis to determine optimal system configurations.
  • Develop and execute test plans for avionics communication systems and data fusion technologies.
  • Coordinate and support system validation and verification activities, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration and performance issues.
  • Develop system and procurement requirements.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, interface control documents (ICDs), and test reports.
  • Present findings and status updates to stakeholders and management.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with military standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely delivery of milestones.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for procurement of necessary components and systems.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Assist in the development of proposals, statements of work (SOW), and Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates for new projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to gather requirements and draft comprehensive, clear, and compliant documents.
  • Ensure all documentation meets government standards and supports the program's strategic goals.
Requirements
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance, required.
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • At least five (5) years of experience performing the functional duties for this position.
  • Proven experience in avionics systems integration, with a focus on communications and data fusion technologies.
  • Strong understanding of military aircraft communication protocols (e.g., MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, Ethernet).
  • Proficiency in systems engineering principles and practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Desired Skillsets
  • Experience with rotary-wing aircraft and helicopter avionics systems.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles related to avionics systems.
  • Familiarity with military standards and regulations (e.g., DO-178C, DO-254).
