About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Avionics Systems Engineer to join our team at Honda Aircraft Company. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future technology of the HondaJet aircraft family.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide engineering oversight and guidance on compliance and FAA regulations for new product development programs and upgrades for existing platforms. You will also provide technical leadership and mentorship to the team in your area of expertise.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Define, plan, and develop complex system level requirements to support avionics systems, including digital cabin systems.
  • Perform systems level integration activities for aircraft avionic systems, including Control and Display Systems, Communication Systems, Audio Systems, Cloud Based Systems, and Cabin Systems.
  • Define and integrate multiple data bus communications, such as ARINC 429, RS485, RS232, CAN, and Ethernet.
  • Interface and facilitate integration between multiple suppliers to ensure technical requirements are met to support aircraft development need dates.
  • Develop mock-ups and prototypes for fit/form/function assessment to meet user experience and design criteria, considering topics such as human comfort, reach, haptics, multi-mode HMI, product functionality, and user experience.
  • Serve as the system-level expert for integration and coordination activities with various departments and the certification authorities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to complete assignments and projects as defined per the program schedule.
  • Provide technical assistance to production and customer service departments in support of system technical inquiries, issue resolution, and system level enhancement.
  • Perform system evaluation and analysis to verify the system design compliance with functional requirements.
  • Develop targeted system level enhancements to address customer feedback and product improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct system lab testing and aircraft functional testing.
  • Prepare presentations on avionics system design/development status.
  • Support system analyses for avionic systems.
  • Support system Failure Hazard Analyses for avionic systems.
  • Conduct trade studies, analyses, and test programs as necessary to validate system architectures meet all requirements.
  • Conduct multi-disciplinary design reviews throughout the different phases of development, certification, and production readiness as required to coordinate and communicate system design projects.
Who Are You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Avionics Systems Engineer with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics. You should have at least 5 years of experience in Engineering and 4 years of experience working with integrated aircraft avionic/electrical systems in the areas of design engineering, system analysis, system test, and compliance findings. You should also have experience with new product development certification programs and major/minor upgrade programs on existing platforms (Part 23 I 25).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of System qualification requirements, including DO-160F/G for environmental, DO-178B for software, and DO-254 for complex electronic hardware.
  • Proficiency in writing technical documentation and reports involving test data and analysis.
  • Previous experience in the development and implementation of cabin systems for high-end executive aircraft.
  • Working knowledge of executive aircraft cabin systems, including Cabin Management System, connectivity, displays, cabin lighting, cabin audio, charging, window shades, and portable electronic device applications.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in requirements management tools, such as DOORS.
  • Ability to handle complex work assignments.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multi-functional team environment.
  • Familiarity with the application of SAE ARP 4754 and ARP 4761.
  • Working knowledge of design requirements of 14CFR Part 23.
  • Experience in test and certification of Avionics, Automatic Flight Control Systems, Autopilots, and Air Data Systems.
