About Us

EPPA is a physician-owned and led group in Minnesota, recognized for its commitment to providing exceptional emergency care for over 50 years. We offer two tracks for Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs): one for those coming out of training programs and another for experienced emergency medicine APCs.

Position Summary

Experienced EPPA Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners serve as integral members of a multidisciplinary team providing excellence in emergency medical care in various treatment areas. They coordinate care with consultant services, recommend follow-up care, facilitate referrals, and participate in continuous quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide health care services to patients under physician supervision
  • Examine patients and perform comprehensive physical examinations
  • Compile patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination
  • Administer or order diagnostic tests and interpret test results
  • Perform therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, and wound care
  • Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and assist in provision of continuity of care
  • Prescribe, administer, and dispense drugs, controlled substances, and medical devices
  • Instruct and counsel patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens
  • Create and maintain patient records
  • Care for and communicate with patients, family members, co-workers, and other medical professionals
Requirements
  • 1+ years of experience working as an APC in a tertiary, high-volume hospital emergency department
  • Completion of an accredited physician assistant or nursing practitioner program
  • Current licensure with the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice or Minnesota Board of Nursing
  • Current ACLS, ATLS, and BLS certification
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple clinical tasks
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, responsibility, and ethical practice
Working Conditions

APCs work in a hospital emergency department and acute care clinic, requiring long periods of sitting and standing, and the ability to regularly lift up to 30 pounds. Schedules can vary according to practice setting, but may include days, nights, and weekends.
