IT Systems Support Specialist

As a dedicated IT Systems Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the operational efficiency of our client's IT infrastructure. Your primary responsibility will be to analyze and address challenges within a vital network environment.
This position requires full-time onsite presence, with standard daytime hours and potential for occasional evening or weekend work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting installation, configuration, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting tasks to support IT users. This includes physically setting up and maintaining computer systems and managing connections.
- Handling the unpacking, relocation, and installation of IT equipment, which may weigh up to 25 pounds (or more with assistance).
- Moving throughout a large facility to transport equipment to various locations.
- Engaging directly with users to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues using the Service Now platform. Documenting all system modifications, issues, and tasks within Service Now.
- Provisioning new endpoints, including desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices, along with performing imaging and desktop support.
- Managing OS patch installations and upgrades, as well as installing Commercially Available Off-the-Shelf (COTS) software.
- Providing user account management support where Elevated Privileges (EP) are necessary.
- Installing and configuring software applications based on specific change orders.
- Utilizing log data and system administration tools to identify and rectify hardware and software issues, including repairing or replacing defective components.
- Monitoring and analyzing assigned systems to identify risks and recommend necessary enhancements or revisions.
- Employing Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and related tools to troubleshoot performance issues and deploy software packages, including scripting and standard VA tools.
- Managing inventory functions, including the handling of pagers and equipment disposal or turn-in.
- Conducting routine audits of systems and software to ensure compliance with licensing regulations and assess utilization.
- Performing general maintenance tasks, including printer deployment and repair, software installations, and equipment refreshes.
- Overseeing asset management, including inventory tracking, auditing, and reporting to optimize the IT asset portfolio.
- Occasionally assisting with access control and escorting personnel as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in maintaining and troubleshooting diverse systems and networks, particularly high volume or high availability environments.
- Familiarity with routine system administration tasks and logging protocols.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving customer-reported issues and implementing corrective measures.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
