Key Responsibilities- Referral Preparation and Processing: Prepare and process all managed care referral paperwork, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Scheduling and Pre-Registration: Schedule and pre-register patients for exams and procedures with specialists and providers outside of the primary care physician's office.
- Communication and Coordination: Communicate effectively with physicians, nurse practitioners, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to gather pertinent information and complete referrals.
- Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date referral records and files, adhering to strict confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines.
- Patient Support: Respond to patient inquiries regarding health plan referrals, providing clear and concise information to ensure patient satisfaction.
- Referral Experience: Minimum 1-3 years of experience in referral coordination, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Healthcare Experience: 1-3 years of hands-on experience in a clinical setting, preferably within the Medicare population.
- Medical Terminology: Proficient in medical terminology and able to understand and interpret medical records.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as experience with Electronic Medical Records.
- Communication Skills: Excellent professional communication abilities, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare or Business Administration.
- ICD 10 and CPT Coding: Knowledge of ICD 10 and CPT coding.
- Medical Assistant or Professional Certifications: Medical Assistant or Professional State Certifications related to healthcare.
- Bilingual: Bilingual in English and Spanish.
