We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to serve as a Shift Supervisor in our nursing team. As a Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing nursing activities, ensuring appropriate nursing staff coverage during the assigned shift, and providing leadership and guidance to nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and oversee nursing activities, including comprehensive physical assessments, health screenings, and treatments.
- Ensure appropriate nursing staff coverage during the assigned shift, making adjustments as needed to meet the needs of individuals served.
- Provide leadership and guidance to nursing staff, including direct care RNs and LVNs, and delegate work assignments as necessary.
- Respond to emergency situations, providing assessment and ensuring safety and care of individuals and staff.
- Perform complex nursing work, including comprehensive physical assessments, health screenings, and treatments, and maintain competency in use of medical equipment.
- Communicate with other disciplines, including direct care staff, physicians, and administration, to ensure optimal care as part of the interdisciplinary team.
- Develop and present information for inservice training or staff development, as assigned.
- Participate in competency-based training and continuing education activities to maintain competence in nursing best practice.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas.
- Knowledge of nursing techniques, standards, and procedures, as well as health care laws and regulations.
- Ability to provide patient care, prepare and maintain records, and organize, coordinate, and evaluate nursing activities and delivery of health services.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and concisely in both written and oral communications.
- Ability to work independently and productively with all levels of staff, and to make decisions and recommendations to leadership.
This position may be eligible to earn additional pay for work performed on evenings, nights, and/or weekends. The Shift Supervisor will be required to work a specific shift schedule, which may include rotating shifts, extended shifts, and/or overtime.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge of nursing care standards, the Settlement Agreement, and the Healthcare Guidelines.
- Knowledge of infectious diseases and infection prevention and control principles and practices in the healthcare setting.
- Skills in the use of computer/software and an electronic health record system.
- Exceptional physical assessment skills, organizational skills, and ability to work independently and productively with all levels of staff.
- Ability to provide patient care, prepare and maintain records, and organize, coordinate, and evaluate nursing activities and delivery of health services.
