Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Emergency Response Coordinator to join our Public Safety team. This role will involve monitoring the Computer Aided Dispatch System and responding to emergency situations within the university and its properties. As a liaison between university personnel, visitors, and law enforcement agencies, you will be responsible for communicating effectively in high-pressure situations.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor radio frequencies, telephone lines, CCTV monitors, and alarm systems for emergency situations
• Receive and respond to calls for police assistance, prioritizing emergencies and relaying information to relevant authorities
• Dispatch HU-DPS personnel on patrol to various locations in response to emergency calls
• Maintain accurate records of incoming calls, communications with officers, and other incidents
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
• Proficiency in computer-based applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Records Management systems
• Knowledge of two-way radios, telephone equipment, and other communication devices
• Ability to discern between emergency and non-emergency situations and respond accordingly
• Strong verbal communication skills, including voice enunciation, projection, articulation, control, and command
• Ability to learn and interpret university policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
