Position Overview
As an IT Service Delivery Technician at Safeway, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of technology across our retail locations. Your responsibilities will include traveling to various stores to install, configure, repair, and maintain hardware and software systems. This role may require working early mornings or overnight shifts based on project needs and includes on-call duties for after-hours emergencies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the receipt, staging, and tracking of IT equipment for retail locations.
  • Conduct pilot installations and refine processes for retail technology.
  • Support standard hardware and software systems across Safeway's retail stores and facilities.
  • Repair approved technology hardware, including PCs, servers, network devices, and point-of-sale systems.
  • Provide support for network connectivity and remote access issues.
  • Oversee the installation of new hardware and software solutions.
  • Maintain inventory controls and adhere to company policies.
  • Collaborate with management to address technical issues and support requests.
  • Deliver exceptional IT support to customers, meeting service level agreements.
  • Coordinate with corporate IT teams for on-site assistance and technology solutions.
  • Follow established repair standards and service protocols.
  • Travel to various store locations for installations, which may include overnight stays.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required; AA/AS/BA/BS degree or relevant technical certifications preferred.
  • Experience in IT project implementation with a minimum of 5 years in technical systems and 2 years in technical support.
  • Retail business experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in installing and configuring desktop and peripheral technology.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting technical information clearly.
  • Familiarity with IT hardware, Windows, MS Office, and related applications.
  • Knowledge of iOS and Android systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks related to equipment installation.
  • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record are essential.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends, in a 24/7 on-call support capacity.
