Key Responsibilities- Triage and Assessment: Perform initial assessments to evaluate patient conditions quickly, checking vital signs, assessing for obvious injuries or distress, and gathering information from pet owners.
- Medical Procedures: Safely and accurately administer fluids, medications, and other treatments as prescribed by veterinarians, and perform venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with technical staff across the hospital to ensure hospitalized patients receive optimal care, maintaining open communication with the healthcare team.
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Monitoring: Vigilantly monitor hospitalized patients, recognizing subtle changes in their clinical status and promptly reporting any concerns to the veterinary team.
- Client Education: Provide clear and concise discharge instructions to clients, ensuring they understand the care their pets require after leaving the hospital.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, including patient history, treatment details, and client communication.
- Diagnostic Imaging: Operate diagnostic imaging equipment and assist in capturing radiographs and other diagnostic images.
- Laboratory Procedures: Run diagnostics, correlate results with the clinical presentation of the patient, and notify veterinarians of results.
- Blood Transfusion Therapy: Assist with collection, administration, and transfusion reactions.
- Assist Doctors: Collaborate closely with veterinarians to assist in exams, treatments, and medical procedures for emergency cases.
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or internship trained.
- Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills.
