The Labor & Delivery department at UNC Health Care is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Support Tech I to join their team. This role combines the responsibilities of a Nursing Assistant I and a Health Unit Coordinator, requiring a unique blend of clinical and administrative skills.
Job SummaryThis 36 hour per week position involves working 12 hour rotating shifts with weekend and holiday rotation. As a Clinical Support Tech I, you will be responsible for assisting professional caregivers in delivering patient care, transporting patients and equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and performing various clerical tasks.
Responsibilities- Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies.
- Critically review patient care documentation, noting any significant changes in the patient's condition and reporting immediately to a registered nurse or physician.
- Provide various clerical tasks, including organizing and prioritizing workload, greeting and directing visitors, researching information as requested by nurses and physicians, reviewing orders for logic and clarity, revising orders as requested by the nurse, answering the telephone/patient call lights, transcribing physician orders, and maintaining medical records.
- Perform routine quality assurance audits, safety checks, and inventory of supplies.
- Provide clinical support assistance, including cleaning the work area, maintaining office equipment, troubleshooting common software and hardware problems, changing linens, checking supply inventory, re-stocking supplies, transporting patients/supplies/specimens, and assisting in the orientation of new employees and students.
To be successful in this role, you must have a High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) and be listed as a Nursing Assistant I by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also required. Prior experience is not necessary, but you must be fluent in verbal and written English language and capable of developing computer skills if not already competent.
Salary and BenefitsThis is a full-time position with an estimated salary range of $34,000 - $46,500 per year, based on a 36 hour workweek and hourly rate of $17.50 - $24.63. The position qualifies for an extensive benefit package, including PTO hours accrued based on worked hours. Additionally, this role is eligible for the Nursing Support Incentive Program, which includes $5,000 paid over a three year commitment.
