Are you a seasoned Cybersecurity Engineer with a strong commitment to advancing threat detection and security oversight? Bayforce is seeking a Lead Cybersecurity Engineer to become part of our dynamic team on a contract-to-hire basis. This position is primarily remote, offering flexibility for qualified candidates.

Position Title: Lead Cybersecurity Engineer

Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire

Duration: 6 months (with potential for extension)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the development and upkeep of sophisticated identification systems within the SIEM architecture.
  • Design, refine, and enhance SIEM rules to improve threat detection precision.
  • Work collaboratively with the Security Operations Center (SOC) team and Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) to bolster threat identification and response.
  • Integrate various logging sources into the SIEM for holistic monitoring.
  • Conduct routine evaluations of the SIEM to identify and rectify coverage deficiencies.
  • Examine security logs and alerts to uncover potential threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Execute attack simulations and penetration tests to enhance detection capabilities.
  • Utilize threat intelligence to proactively address emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and implement SOAR automation scripts to optimize incident response processes.
  • Guide junior security engineers and SOC analysts on best practices.
  • Oversee ticket management, address escalations, and assess performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a comparable role, with at least 5 years dedicated to detection engineering and SIEM systems.
  • Proficient in SIEM platforms and rule development.
  • Experience collaborating with Managed MSSPs and SOC teams.
  • Strong understanding of log management, correlation, and analysis.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, and PCI-DSS.
  • Expertise in network security tools, including IDS/IPS, firewalls, and endpoint security solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of security configurations for both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, or equivalent are advantageous.
