Position Summary

The Patient Authorization Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient processing of new patient referrals. This position also offers guidance and mentorship to fellow team members involved in patient authorization and intake processes.



Key Responsibilities

  • Secures essential initial authorizations and re-authorizations as necessary for service delivery.
  • Inputs patient authorization details into the system accurately.
  • Produces tracking reports to monitor authorizations and daily medication dispensing, identifying any adjustments in patient treatment plans.
  • Coordinates with various departments to provide updates on authorization statuses.
  • Maintains awareness of which insurance providers have active agreements with BrightSpring Health Services.
  • Oversees assigned statuses (Auth, Auth Pending) within the billing readiness framework.
  • Guides the Patient Authorization team in collaboration with Revenue Cycle Management to address and resolve billing and collection inquiries.
  • Ensures the confidentiality of patient and proprietary information is upheld.
  • Provides support to other branches as required.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent is required; an Associate's Degree or some college experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in gathering referral information within the healthcare sector.
  • Experience with all types of payers, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance providers.
  • Familiarity with insurance verification and pre-authorization processes.
  • Comprehension of the range of services offered by BrightSpring Health Services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.


Compensation

The position offers a competitive pay rate of USD $28.00 per hour.
