Job Summary:

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist operates x-ray and CT equipment to produce high-quality radiographs and scans of designated body parts. This role requires collaboration with radiologists to prepare patients for diagnostic scans, adhering to radiology best practices and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adjusts x-ray equipment to optimal settings for each examination, positioning patients and determining the correct voltage, current, and exposure time.
  • Selects the appropriate CT protocol for each CT examination.
  • Properly screens CT patients before administering intravenous and/or oral contrast media, considering blood results, allergic history, and other factors.
  • Operates the CT intravenous contrast injector under physician supervision.
  • Arranges and adjusts immobilizing devices to obtain precise positions, prevent patient movement, and minimize discomfort.
  • Positions x-ray equipment at the correct distance and angle to present clear and undistorted views.
  • Repeats exposures from different angles as prescribed by the physician.
  • Cleans and makes minor adjustments to equipment.
  • Documents radiological studies in the electronic medical record.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Qualifications:

  • Prior diagnostic radiology experience with CT equipment is required.
  • Graduate of an accredited AMA School of Radiology.
  • Licensed by the State of New York and BLS certification, AART registered or eligible.
