Position Summary:UNC Health is seeking a Clinical Specimen Collection Specialist to become part of our dynamic team. This role involves executing various specimen collection procedures and conducting patient point-of-care testing to support clinical operations within our Healthcare System.
The ideal candidate should possess experience in specimen collection within a high-energy environment. This role includes responsibilities for night shifts and rotating weekend patient collections.Work Schedule:
Every other Fri/Sat night 10:00pm - 6:30am
Key Responsibilities:
- Engages with healthcare providers and patients regarding care related to specimen collection services.
- Ensures the precision and quality of all work performed.
- Addresses issues related to equipment, patient results, specimens, and workflow.
- May participate in team projects or special assignments.
- May provide training and mentorship to new staff, students, and other healthcare professionals.
- May review test outcomes to confirm accuracy and facilitate timely corrections or communicate results to healthcare providers.
- Conducts specimen collection procedures, quality control, and equipment upkeep in the designated laboratory.
- Responsible for ensuring the completion of daily tasks and monitoring the laboratory work area.
Additional Information
Education Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED.
- No licensure or certification required.
- One (1) year of experience in specimen collection is required, or
- If a graduate of a specimen collection program, no prior experience is necessary.
