Job Summary:

The Specimen Processing Technician plays a critical role in the laboratory workflow, responsible for the processing and allocation of laboratory specimens and orders from all sources. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient and specimen identification, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness of specimen and accompanying orders.
  • Organize laboratory workflow and prioritize processing and distribution of specimens to ensure timely delivery.
  • Utilize equipment, instruments, and computer systems to test, request, accession, label, and deliver specimens to appropriate laboratory sections.
  • Perform routine maintenance and quality control procedures on specified equipment and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • 1 year of clinical experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with a focus on specimen processing.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college courses in phlebotomy preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Work Schedule:

This position is Monday through Friday, 4pm-12am, with no weekend requirements or call shifts.
