YAI is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team in providing support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our residents.
Responsibilities- Assist with daily living activities, including mealtime assistance, bathing, and toileting
- Support residents with communication, including spoken English, Sign Language, and the use of electronic communication devices
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of individualized support plans
- Assist with ADLs (assisting with showering, toileting, grooming, etc.) as necessary
- Work effectively in a team setting and complete responsibilities individually
- High School Diploma or GED; some college is a plus
- Valid Driver's License, NY State preferred
- Work or life experience supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred
- Ability to participate in 3-5 days of paid NYS Mandated OPWDD initial trainings during normal business hours upon hire
- Tuberculosis test mandatory for most positions (provided FREE of charge by our Premier Healthcare clinic)
- Sunday - Thursday: 3:00 pm-11:00 pm
