Coding and Audit Specialist

ChristianaCare, a leading healthcare system in Delaware, is seeking a full-time Coding and Audit Coordinator to join our Medical Group Physician Optimization team.
About the Role:This position is responsible for analyzing and reporting trends for improvement opportunities in coding and documentation. The successful candidate will verify coding and abstracting accuracy by performing quantitative and qualitative reviews of ICD-10 CM/PCS, HCPCS/CPT codes. Additionally, they will provide 1:1 training and education to our physicians and mid-level providers on effective documentation, coding, and billing guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform coding quality audits of all records to ensure appropriateness and accurate code assignments in accordance with CMS guidelines.
- Initiate follow-up activities to verify correction of errors and identify coding and documentation error trends.
- Assist with annual review of CPT/ICD-10 updates and implementation of identified changes.
- Lead contact for billing questions related to services within the Service Line.
- Facilitate education during onboarding for new clinicians on effective documentation, coding, and billing guidelines.
- High School diploma or equivalent and/or Associate's degree.
- A minimum of 4 years of coding experience.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) completed through American Academy of Professional Coders required.
- Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) completed through American Academy of Professional Coders preferred.
