As a key member of Munich Re's US operations, the role of the Property Underwriter involves evaluating and underwriting property facultative reinsurance programs across the United States. This position is crucial for maintaining a profitable portfolio while ensuring compliance with corporate guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently assess and underwrite certificate and program business in alignment with corporate and departmental standards.
- Evaluate new and renewal business, conducting comprehensive risk and coverage analysis, and provide informed recommendations within delegated authority.
- Review primary policies, reinsurance contracts, and endorsements for accuracy and compliance.
- Analyze required risk information and propose suitable reinsurance solutions to brokers and clients.
- Maintain meticulous business records and documentation.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with internal teams, including Claims and management.
Client Relationship Management
- Develop and nurture client relationships while identifying new business opportunities.
- Ensure responsive service for all broker and direct client inquiries.
- Monitor and assess the profitability of assigned clients.
- Promote the Group's capabilities and services externally.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in (re)insurance underwriting or related fields, with at least 5 years in underwriting preferred.
- A Bachelor's Degree is preferred; advanced degrees are a plus.
- Professional designations such as CPCU or ARe are advantageous.
- Strong proficiency in pricing models and risk evaluation tools.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills, with a solid understanding of finance and actuarial concepts.
- Experience managing client relationships and working with brokers or managing general agents is essential.
- Willingness to travel for client meetings and industry events.
