About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Attorney to join our team at Davis County Government. As a Civil Attorney, you will play a critical role in representing the County in civil cases and providing legal advice to County officials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the County in civil cases in State or Federal Courts and before state administrative agencies.
  • Prepare and file complaints and other court pleadings and documents.
  • Provide legal advice and prepare formal legal opinions on a wide range of complex issues and problems for various County departments.
  • Research legal issues and legislation.
  • Draft and review ordinances, contracts, and other documents.
  • Consult with other staff attorneys and communicate with private citizens, other departments of County Government, and Utah State Legislators.
  • Attend board and public meetings and give legal advice.
  • Maintain knowledge and skill levels in current case decisions and legislation.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate degree.
  • At least six years of experience practicing law with emphasis on government or public law, or experience in the public sector.
  • Active membership in the Utah Bar Association and good standing.
Level IV Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate degree.
  • At least eight years of experience practicing law with emphasis on government or public law, or experience in the public sector.
  • Active membership in the Utah Bar Association and good standing.
Level V Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctorate degree.
  • At least ten years of experience practicing law with emphasis on government or public law, or experience in the public sector.
  • Active membership in the Utah Bar Association and good standing.
