Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Technician IV to join our Construction Management Team. As a lead inspector, you will be responsible for supervising transportation construction projects in North Carolina, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform inspections of contractor operations on transportation projects, including roadway and bridge construction.
  • Supervise and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout construction.
  • Measure and track quantities of pay items.
  • Gather and maintain record documents, including material certifications and testing reports.
  • Interact with the public, government agencies, contractors, and other parties to respond to inquiries and resolve field issues.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field, and seven years of progressive technician-level experience.
  • Active driver's license.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans.
  • Experience planning, developing, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
  • Thorough understanding of DOT Standards and Specifications and Roadway Standard Drawings.
Working Conditions

This position requires extensive field work, with the ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Work may be conducted in various weather conditions.
