The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Tulane University invites applications for the position of the John and Elsie Martinez Endowed Professor in Biomedical Engineering. This is a senior faculty position available as early as July 2024 and will remain open until filled.
We seek candidates with demonstrable leadership initiative, who will attract people across disciplines to solve problems that will help our region and society. The successful applicant will be expected to engage in world-class scholarship and technology development and drive departmental leadership by leveraging existing departmental research areas and strengthening ties with other academic units, local health care institutions, and industry.
The successful candidate will have an outstanding record of scholarly and impactful contributions to their field and will be expected to be actively involved in undergraduate and graduate programs, consistent with having a fundamental interest in both training and research. Joint appointments between the School of Science and Engineering and other schools will be considered.
The Department of Biomedical Engineering has a strong research focus and offers undergraduate and graduate programs. The department is headquartered in the School of Science and Engineering on Tulane's picturesque uptown campus, with office, laboratory, and engineering facilities located on that campus. The department also leads Tulane's Institute of Integrated Engineering for Health and Medicine (TI2EHM) on the downtown Health Sciences Campus.

QualificationsThe successful applicant will be expected to have academic achievements commensurate with appointment with tenure, and will be expected to maintain an active externally-funded research program. The successful candidate will have an outstanding record of scholarly and impactful contributions to their field and will be expected to be actively involved in undergraduate and graduate programs, consistent with having a fundamental interest in both training and research.
